A Letter From A Trans Woman To Her Lesbian Sister
Responding to an honest inquiry about sexuality
A lesbian asked me my opinion about having a relationship with a trans woman
Every trans woman has been trolled or baited at some time by TERFs and other transphobic members of the GC crowd looking to lure her into an ill advised comment which can be used to perpetuate their bigotry against the LGBTQ community. Each of us has learned to be cautious before responding. Last week I received a comment from a lesbian who seemed sincere in the question she asked. I decided to respond. Here is what she wrote:
…I have a serious question for you. …
Do you think that I, a natural-born lesbian, should date trans women even though they are not what I am attracted to?
I ask only because since I came out as lesbian, I’ve been harassed and bullied by [the] trans community and allies stating crap like “You need to date trans women”, “Stop lowering a person to their genitalia,” etc.
I cannot help who I am attracted to when it comes to women and I guarantee that a trans woman is not someone I could ever be attracted to physically, mentally, or emotionally.
I’m not being mean, it’s just the reality…
