Absolutely on the money. The problem is that the MAGATs have a different paradigm than more and more of the country as a whole. They envision the time of Ozzie and Harriet as being perfect when they were oblivious to the more difficult lives of other kinds of people and minorities. Everything in their remembered world view was seemingly perfect. It is like many of the Disney movies of the time. In every fairytale, the ending was, they lived happily ever after. They were an escape from reality and gave us a safe and comfortable fantasy to envision. The great America the Trump followers long for is a similar fantasy. If they took the time to truly understand that it was only perfect for a like group of privileged white people, maybe they would rethink their point of view. It is a slow process, but I am hopeful that we are moving closer to the day when everyone will be accepted and respected for who and what they are.
