Actually there is a growing body of evidence that trans brains and neurochemistry more closely resemble those of the sex the person identifies with. That is the main reason that transness is not "curable". It is not simply a malleable mental construct in the same way that gayness also cannot be "cured." As a sceintist, at least according to your profile, you should know better thant to make sweeping generalizations without researching the evidence.
