Because there is increasing alarm among the transphobic due to the greater visibility of the trans population, one of the methods of attack we are increasingly seeing is to use examples of the very few detransitioning individuals to “prove” a trend which does not exist. The transphobic voices cannot point to any peer-reviewed scientific studies to suggest that large numbers of trans people detransition. Accordingly they choose examples of the few who do and repeat them loudly and frequently to suggest that there is a problem which in actuality does not exist. By constantly talking about the few who do detransition, they have created the impression in some quarters that there is a problem, when statistically it is insignificant. As with many things that are highly politicized, if you repeat the lie that an exception actually represents the truth, often enough and loudly enough, people will begin to believe the fiction. Statistics do not lie if people are willing to be objective and not succumb to emotion.
