China has provided limited, non-lethal aid to Russia at this point. They value their trade relationships with the US and the rest of the West far more than an alliance with a very weak and economically insignificant Russia. There is a natural affinity between Autocrats, but China hardly views Russia as an equal Partner. They will maintain political face while deferring to the West in not providing lethal aid. They have nothing to gain by doing so. Indeed, they have everything to gain by a weakened Russia, because they have long viewed the eastern part of the Russian Federation as territory that is rightfully theirs. An impotent Russia militarily makes it far easier to annex those lands.
