Everything is going fine. Thank you for asking. Just hanging out with Jen. She had bottom surgery a little less than two weeks ago. She needs a lot of help for at least a month. Amethysta made a comment, by the way, that MoZaic Care is requiring her to have the letters before she schedules. That surprised me because I did not need them until a month before my procedure. I went back and checked the FAQ on their website. They talk about the letters primarily being an insurance requirement, not something they need. They also noted that many insurers now only require 1 mental health letter since the WPATH standards have been revised. This obviously is something to take into account as well, especially if the surgical provider needs to be assured of payment before they proceed with scheduling. Standards can vary depending on where you live and the requirements of a given provider. I was really just giving you a heads up that certain surgeons are in high demand and have long waiting lists. I know Marci Bowers has a 3 to 5 year backlog because of her high visibility. But there are equally good ones that have much shorter periods. I don’t know where your insurance will cover, but the surgeon Jen used, Jonathan Keith, in Livingston, New Jersey, did an excellent job. I would not hesitate to recommend him. Just another possibility for you to consider. Finally, one thing I did not mention, many, but not all, require substantial hair removal which can take 6-12 months. This is also something you should plan for.
You appear to have done your homework and have come up with a solid plan. Not everyone is as well prepared as you. I just raised these issues because they are easy to overlook. The last thing you want is an 11th hour surprise. I wish you the best as you continue to evolve.
