How about a man with no testicles? It doesn’t say anything about eunuchs, does it? And what about transgender women? Fundamentalist Christians who take the Bible literally would call them men pretending to be women. So I guess they would be OK since Leviticus is silent on them. But last week a church Elder said I wasn’t welcome. I am confused. The Talmud, which is the instruction book used by the Hebraic Rabbinical tradition to teach observant Jews the meaning and application of the Torah (including Leviticus), recognizes them as real women. Why do they have to make everything so difficult? Maybe if we added a lot more detailed specificity it would be less ambiguous. I am tired of the vagueness of books like Leviticus! Maybe the evangelical church can do a rewrite. Obviously Leviticus was just an outline. We can improve on it. Maybe if we took some of the political positions of the fundamentalist Church to heart, we could update the book. It is seriously out of date!
