I find it hard to believe that the defense department and/or the CIA does not have humint on the ground to either observe what’s going on or who have confidential sources of information to help in properly analyzing the raw data. If you and I can get the qualitative information that affects our conclusions, wouldn’t this be something that the military powers that be also have access to, and take into account in expressing their opinions?
