I agree with everything you said, with the exception of one minor thing. Studies that have been done suggest that the number of trans people is about 0.6% of the population. The numbers may be higher now because they are more visible. Whatever, they are still small compared to the overall population.
I think part of the irrational fear is due to the fact that the public is more aware of trans people now and they are somehow afraid that people can be converted. There is absolutely no scientific basis for this. You either are or are not. No one can convert you. This message needs to be repeated continuously until people calm down and accept that. You can’t be converted to being trans and you can’t be converted into being not trans. It took a long time, but the psychologists are now in agreement about this. It is just the way we are.
