I am well aware of that. I am a former federal prosecutor. The evidence I have seen, while not the same as presented to the January 6 committee, and what the DOJ has accumulated to date, seems to be convincing that Donald Trump, in fact, engaged in irrefutable illegal activity. Exculpatory information may possibly be presented at trial to change my mind, but at the moment I think it unlikely.

To give just one quick example, the pictures of the classified files that were found in Mar a Lago seem to be a clear violation of the law. They were documents that should never have been in Trump’s possession. When given the opportunity to justify his possession of the documents, he could not and merely expressed outrage that he was the subject of persecution by a corrupt DOJ and the corrupt Democratic Party. I hardly find such a defense compelling.
