I came of age in the 60s in the middle of the fight for gay rights, civil rights, and protest against the Vietnam war. Yes, there were political divisions, but which in many ways were more regional. The north against the racism of the south. And the rising youth movement against the hawks in Congress. The big difference is that back then people actually debated issues and the two political parties worked together across the aisle to get things done. No fake news, no lies, no name-calling. What I see in politics today is the governmental equivalent of a bunch of toddlers name calling in a daycare center. I don’t recognize this government. It is so foreign to me.
