I have a different perspective than you. As a passable, postop trans woman, I often get these questions. If my sense is that the person is truly interested in learning more about trans people, I am happy to answer any and all questions. Nothing is off-limits and nothing is too personal. I will even share pictures if they want to see. I find that among the general public, there is a lot of confusion about the nature of trans people and why we are the way we are. Anything I can do to educate the public one person at a time is something I am happy to do.
Where I would agree with you is if I felt like I was being put under a microscope by someone like a Matt Walsh, who was looking for ammunition to criticize me and the trans community in general. If they have an agenda, there is no point in engaging. But if they are simply curious, I am more than happy to enlighten them.
