I of course agree with everything you said. Taking precautions to protect yourself from being infected by others is hardly something that should be complained about by anyone. It is your choice.

One thing you did not mention is the fact that others (especially those who are sick) should always wear face protection to avoid infecting those around them. During the pandemic, wearing a mask was most important to prevent transmission by those who had the virus. Failure to do so is not a matter of personal choice and freedom, it was actually a violation of the rights of others not to be exposed to a deadly virus. It is no different than food industry workers being required to wash their hands before returning to work. Preventing infection of the public is never something which is unreasonably intrusive. It is not taking away personal freedom. It is preventing the arrogant and uncaring from destroying the health of those around them. If people were a little less selfish, they might understand that.
