I understand what you are trying to say, but you got it wrong here. Both sex and gender are determined before birth, but both are physical phenomena not choices. External sexual characteristics begin to develop around 4 weeks of gestation and the brain at about 10 weeks. They do not always develop in a congruent way. Our sense of gender is determined by the biological development of our brains. That is the reason that you cannot convert a trans person into a cis person. It is innate, not a choice. The choice argument is the one that transphobic people have been using for decades to deny the reality of the Trans experience. Until the general public understands that a trans brain is different than a cis brain, this misconception will continue.
On a different subject, I agree with you that it is easy for trans people to see hate and bigotry all around them, though in reality it is much less prevalent than people often assume. I am a member of a number of servers devoted to the interests of trans people . Much of the discussion centers around fear and resentment of how the world treats trans people. I gently suggest that maybe they should just go out in public and live their lives—just be. I have been doing it for years and never receive any pushback or derogatory comments. People are very friendly and accepting. In my experience , the real world is very different than the black dystopia suggested by many websites.
