Most of the world, and even most of the people who suffer under the thumb of autocratic regimes, want more freedom. Democracy is appealing to them. The pending conflict you see is mostly a struggle between autocratic dictators who want to impose their will on their own people and free nations. Also, to suggest that Ukraine is a proxy war and try to support it by the positioning of 20,000 US troops in Poland is disingenuous. Russia started this war. All the west is doing is providing Ukraine the means to defend itself. The troops in Poland are merely a precautionary measure in case Putin becomes more aggressive.

All in the west hopes the war ends soon. The solution is simple, all Russia has to do is withdraw troops back within its own borders, and respect the sovereignty of Ukraine. It is not a proxy war. To the extent that Russia is weakened, it is a self-inflicted wound. It is nothing that anyone would like to see. The whole world would like to see Russia as a peaceful and prosperous nation. This can only happen if the attitudes of those in power change.
