My first thought was how could someone who claims to be a representative of God be so hateful and evil? It is absolutely beyond belief. And while Mark‘s mother did not help him initially and obviously is conflicted in her granting and then withdrawing parental consent, it is easy to understand how she became so indoctrinated with irrational fear and misinformation. In some ways my heart goes out to her as well. She also is struggling and seems to at least be able to begin to understand.

What struck me the most was a feeling that I needed to do something to help. You are in contact with Mark and his family. Pass on my best wishes and encouragement to him. There is nothing wrong with him. He is not defective or deranged or mentally ill. He is as loved by God as any of the intolerant religious authorities who have condemned him. He is a purer spirit with a greater capacity for love, and I suspect a much better Christian. ❤️
