Statistically the rate of regret among those who have gender affirming surgery is less than 3%. As to the 3% who have regret or decide to detransition, almost all of them do it because of social and political condemnation by coworkers, family, or the communities in which they live. There is a reason that gender affirming surgery is accepted by the medical profession. It works to greatly improve the mental health and well being of people with pronounced dysphoria and significantly reduces the risk of self harm.
