The irony is that “Christian Nationalists” are neither Christian nor nationalist. They are not Christian because their misogynistic, exclusionary, bigoted, and self-righteous values are the antithesis of Jesus‘s teaching of love, inclusion, acceptance, compassion, and forgiveness. They are not nationalist because they only support a small portion of the country’s population. They exclude people not like them or not part of their exclusive club. Indeed, their conceptual support for a Civil War belies the accuracy of the label.

If there were more truth in advertising, and the group wanted to truly describe their movement, they would rename themselves the Exclusive Society of Intolerant, Misogynistic, Idol Worshipping White Men, Trying To Take Over The World (“ESIMIWWMTTTTW”). I suppose the marketing types would quickly reject it. It is a little unwieldy as a catchy acronym and doesn’t have the same warm and fuzzy ring to it.
