There are so many to choose from. But some of the best would give the pastor pause. I love John Lennon’s Imagine.

But I suspect there are certain lines he might want to edit out…

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too

So what is a faithful pastor to do? Be true to the message or to the institution? Is it more important to be no earthly good because we are so heaven bent or more tuned in to doing the best we can improving the one in which we live? Maybe we need some worship songs with some healthy skepticism about the meaning and integrity of the whole religion thing.
