There is a balancing act between gatekeeping and proper evaluation. I fear that currently too many are transitioning for the wrong reasons, and I worry about the fallout from that. We all would hate for anyone to make a mistake. It would be even worse if they suffer from transition regret, detransition, and go public about it. It just feeds the bigoted paranoia of the intolerant and the religious fundamentalists unnecessarily. Getting it right is important.
