To address your three specific points, I am equally concerned that being trans is trendy at the moment, not just with kids but with younger adults as well. That is one of the reasons I have a big problem with just allowing self identification rather than encouraging people to get good mental health counseling. No one wants a younger person to make a mistake and no one that I know wants to convert perfectly normal kids into trans kids. This is a political hot button that has no validity in reality. As to your second point regarding trans women competing with women, the IOC and the NCAA have researched the issue for decades. What they have discovered is that those on HRT for at least two years lose whatever physical advantage they had from being fueled by testosterone. A big deal is currently being at the moment about Lia Thomas and her success against rather mediocre competition in Ivy League swimming competitions. If you look at her best times, she is rather average compared to the best women swimmers. She’s not even in the same league as someone like Katie Ledecky. Also most of the women she competes against are in support of her competing. It is only a small vocal minority who have been held up as paradigms of people who have been treated unfairly. Do the research. Finally as to trans women in women’s private spaces, all of us in the trans community think it is legitimate for cis women to be uncomfortable with a trans women undressing in their presence who still has her male equipment. We are looking for ways to come up with a workable compromise. Their discomfort is both legitimate and something that should be respected and accommodated. One solution is to have separate spaces for those who do not pass. This is still an evolving issue, but those of us in the trans community are looking to accommodate the concerns of those who are part of the larger cis population. Except for a few vocal activists, no one is pushing for inclusion of absolutely everyone in ordinary private women’s spaces where people are vulnerable.

Eclectic trans woman, terminally curious. Too many degrees. Trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Attract stray puppies and social outcasts
