Trump‘s campaign was the exact opposite of woke. It made woke seem like a term of perversion and a movement to undermine the social fabric of the Country. It was a grotesque distortion of its real meaning, which was to create awareness of historical inequities of the Country in an attempt to do better moving forward. Trump and his allies turned the meaning upside down. This is evident in the irony of the picture you chose to lead your article. “Awake not woke.”

Republicans have twisted things around so much that they have replaced the truth with a fiction. Most of the Country can’t even define woke or DEI when asked. They just know it’s “bad”. Calling Trump‘s campaign woke may be useful click bait to attract readers to your article, but it is disingenuous. Trump‘s campaign was anything but woke. It was a demonization of the other using identity politics to create fear. There was nothing woke about it.
