While I agree that there has been a change in attitude, I think much of it has to do with the American public being more informed. The battle for Crimea was not as well covered and many in the US saw it as an attempt to protect ethnic Russians who already lived in the area and the reflection of a reasonable desire by Putin to gain greater access to the world’s seas and oceans on his southern border through a warmer water port. The average American was not as aware of Putin‘s imperialistic ambitions and the extent to which the Russian narrative was completely fictitious. Now we do. I only hope that the American public, notorious for its short attention span, will continue to recognize the importance of the conflict in the Ukraine to the stability of the future world order. We should remain strong in our support of them.
