Yes, there are many examples in the Bible. Even Jesus himself on the cross. I singled out nationalistic evangelical Christians, because their form of religion has nothing to do with Christianity. Since you say you were an Anglican, you may not be aware of what is happening in the US. We have Christian nationalists filing laws to criminalize abortion and medical care for transgender people. They are banning books from libraries. They are auctioning off guns as a way of attracting more members. They are calling for the extermination of LGBTQ people and the doctors who provide care. I could go on. It is all based on a perverted form of Christianity that has a lot to do with their judgmentalism and bigotry and nothing to do with God. As a group, I do not think that they have ever really had a true experience of God. If they had, they would’ve been appalled by their behavior. I must politely disagree with your premise that everyone is on a journey to seek God. I don’t believe all are. I believe that deep within us, there is a spirit of longing for our creator, but too many ignore the desire because they are so consumed by their self importance and the things of this world that they have utterly lost contact with the divine.
