You have that exactly backwards,. The Russian useful idiots and cowards are the culture warriors on the right. They are the ones who obstructed aid to Ukraine for over eight months. They are the ones lacking resolve. It was only persistence by Biden and his Democratic allies that $61 billion of aid was finally freed up to get Ukraine back into the fight. The orange orangutan is a fawning admirer of Putin. He is actually a wannabe dictator. He has made it clear that Putin can do anything he wants with Ukraine and Europe as far as he is concerned. He admires strongman leaders unfettered by the constraint of democratic principles. If he were dictator, er president, he would happily join their club.
As president Trump tried to undermine NATO and threatened to pull the US out of the alliance. Europe was very concerned. They consider him an idiot. At the moment, Putin’s attempt to conquer Ukraine has been a disastrous failure. His war plans going forward seem to revolve around holding out until after the November election, hoping that Trump wins and military support for Ukraine vanishes. Then he can complete his planned conquest without further resistance. He knows that a Democratic victory would solidify aid to Ukraine and destroy Russia’s imperialist ambitions once and for all. It would demonstrate to the world (especially other authoritarian regimes) that naked aggression by any country towards its neighbors will not be tolerated by freedom loving peoples. Learn your history before you go making wild statements unsupported by facts.
We both agree that fighting for democracy, sovereignty and liberty are worthwhile causes. However, what you fail to understand is that true liberty requires freedom and dignity for every citizen of a nation, not just the little clan of people like you who do not make you feel uncomfortable. People who are “different” share your dreams, hopes and aspirations. They are just as patriotic. Ask any veteran what they think of their IPOC, gay and trans comrades in arms. You will hear nothing but praise. POC and LGBTQ people have always been here and always will be. They are just as human and deserving as you. They are finally being fully included in the fabric of society. We are beginning to acknowledge our racist past. It is Democrats who are promoting liberty by respecting every person in the US and abroad, not just a select group. The world and the country are changing—but for the better. Respecting disadvantaged groups makes us all stronger. Part of respect is addressing them correctly and acknowledging historical injustice.
