You need to get away from Webster definitions and read the Bible you profess to love so much. The New Testament makes it very clear that faith is a gift from God and very different from belief. When you have a chance to educate yourself let me know. People who do not understand the difference are exactly the ones who blindly hold onto an inaccurate internally illogical and inconsistent set of books to justify their bigoted attitude. The default position is always I didn’t make up the rules, God did. No Jeff. A bunch of well intentioned, but ultimately ignorant, men made up most of them. I appreciate that the Bible is full of profound truths, but it needs to be read in context and critically, not blindly accepted. Too much of what Bible thumpers latch onto onto are artificial ancient cultural rules that have nothing to do with God‘s message. When in doubt as to what you are reading, ask yourself a simple question. Is what I’m reading consistent with the God of love and forgiveness that Jesus embodied and preached? If the answer is no, it is not to be taken literally. God gave you reason and judgment. Use it. Blind faith is no faith at all.
