Your arguments represent false equivalency. There are many more cis women than there are transgender people. We only represent 0.6% of the population, but are the focus of hate legislation and daily attacks. On a percentage basis, we are far more at risk than the average woman. Sheer numbers do not tell the whole story.

This was reflected in the initial news reports of the most recent Tennessee school shooting. Immediately it was claimed that the shooter was a transgender woman, and of course, people like Marjorie Taylor Greene immediately blamed the insanity and violent nature of trans women who take HRT and mental health medication as the cause. It just inflamed the paranoia and hatred and was based on a lie. The shooter was a female at birth may or may not be trans masc. The only indication that she had any connection with the trans community was through identification of a website where she apparently used the pronouns he and him. It is not clear what her true identity is. But of course this does not prevent the hate mongers from jumping to conclusions and creating paranoia with their continued lies.

People like Posey Parker and her hate filled tour through Australia creates similar problems. It is unfortunate that people were injured during the demonstration. Violence is never the answer. The vast majority of the protesters were people who supported the rights of the LGBTQ community, not trans activists as you suggest. You really need to read the news more carefully. Australia as a country is far more enlightened than the US. But the rhetoric does not come from the trans community. It is fueled and escalated by the ignorant bigots. Apparently you identify more with them than with us.

As to Lia Thompson, she appears to have a huge advantage because she is 6‘5“ tall. She did dominate Ivy League swimming, but it is not the most competitive area for the sport in the US and has more to do with her natural size than any advantage of being born male per se. Other women competitors have also had physical advantages who were born female. We do not prevent them from competing simply because of their physical characteristics. Against world class swimmers, Lia is fairly average. She has not come within five seconds of Katie Ledecky’s best times who is a cis woman. The paranoia is based on emotion, not fact and actual records. The NCAA and IOC has long studied participation by transgender women in women’s sports. They have developed guidelines to allow it based upon two years of hormone therapy. This removes any natural advantage.

What you fail to understand is that the trans community is one of the fiercest supporters of women’s rights and prevention of violence against women. We are natural allies, not adversaries. I would suggest you rethink your opinion. It is not helpful and represents part of the problem.

Eclectic trans woman, terminally curious. Too many degrees. Trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Attract stray puppies and social outcasts
