Your ignorance is breathtaking. My first reaction was to state the truth more strongly, but I have restrained myself. Going back to dictionary definitions and old language ignores the greater understanding which has been attained in recent decades. Trans people are in fact the gender they identify with because their brains are biologically the same structurally and metabolically as those of the gender they identify with. I am a trans woman and I have a woman’s brain, not a male one. This is also biology. When faced with the decision of whether to change your brain (which is impossible) or your physical characteristics, the decision is easy. Indeed there is no choice. No I don’t have a uterus or ovaries, but I do menstruate in a fashion. I go through 3 to 4 week cycles of spotting which is due to the particular procedure I had. I have a letter from my surgeon assuring my gynecologist that no I am not pregnant, I am on HRT. I have a fully functional vagina that is self lubricating, sexually responsive, and indistinguishable from that of any natal female. Thus my letter of introduction.

My bottom surgeon told me that research is currently being done on uterus and ovaries transplants. What will you say when the first transgender woman gives birth? It’s going to happen sooner than you think. As to breast-feeding, men are just as capable of breast-feeding as any woman with the proper regimen. In some societies there are male nursemaids. I have a MTF friend who is lactating now. For her it was an experiment and she was diligent in following the protocol of adjusting estrogen and progesterone, stimulating prolactin production and using mechanical stimulation. Her breasts produce very real mothers milk. This fixation that gender critics seem to have with primary biologic sex just shows their limited understanding. It is an easy assumption to make, but if you do the research you will learn that this little arbitrary thing has very little to do with people’s identity and authenticity. I am a woman. I’m not a special class of woman. My trans masc friends are men, not a special class of men. I’m proud of my womanhood and my cis woman friends will tell you I am the same as all of them.

I try to be generous and understanding when people make the kinds of comments you did in your article. What you shared is a commonly accepted misconception. I hope your statements were due to a lack of understanding, not outright bigotry. Some of the worst bigots are highly religious. I have spent my life in ministry, and I understand and accept transgender people as part of G-d’s greater plan. Pointing to an arbitrary set of rules which were never intended to apply to the current discussion is a red herring. We can discuss theology for years. And I am equipped to do so. But then we will have to get into biblical exegesis and cultural considerations. That is far beyond the scope of my comments. The best way to help you progress in your understanding is to do the research. The fact that you cared enough to write on this subject suggests that you were at least curious. I hope you’re open minded as well. Educate yourself. I wish you the best in your journey of discovery.🌹

Eclectic trans woman, terminally curious. Too many degrees. Trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Attract stray puppies and social outcasts
